4-24-14: FOURTH INNING

Lars Ulrich recently told RollingStone.com that Metallica is in the "fourth inning" of producing the band's next album.

Almost six years have passed since the release of Death Magnetic. Lars said that the band was "deep into the songwriting process" and trying to decide "who is going to produce the album."

After the release of 2003's St. Anger, Metallica parted ways with producer Bob Rock, who had joined forces with the band in almost thirteen years earlier. Rick Rubin was brought on for production duty on Death Magnetic, and many fans assumed that he'd be on board for the next album... but apparently that decision may now be up in the air based on Ulrich's comments.
